WILD is an acronym for Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming. WILD is one of the most sought after techniques when it comes to Lucid Dreaming. The reason is not because it is easy to pull off, but rather because of the experience that occurs when you use WILD as opposed to another Lucid Dream Induction Technique. WILD's are said to produce the most vivid and intense Lucid Dreams. In a Wake Induced Lucid Dream, Lucidity is at it's peak. In addition to this, Wake Induced Lucid Dreams can also produce OBE's, or Out of Body Experiences.
So Now that you know the advantages to Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming compared to other Lucid Dream Induction techniques, its time that I show you exactly how to do in 5 simple steps! (Keep in mind this method is a little bit harder than the others, so it may require a bit of practice to get it right, so don't be disappointed if you don't get it right at first!)

(Keep in mind this method is a little bit harder than the others, so it may require a bit of practice to get it right, so don't be disappointed if you don't get it right at first!)
STEP 1: Go to sleep
The First step, like most Lucid Dream Induction Techniques, is to just go to bed. It's best to sleep for around 4-6 hours, depending on you as a sleeper. If you read my last post about Finger Induced Lucid Dreaming, then you can just use the same amount of hours you slept when practicing FILD. Again, the goal here is to be extremely tired when you wake up, almost to the point where you could literally roll over and fall asleep. So if you try waking up after a certain amount of hours and your wide awake, then you may need to play around and do some trial and error. What we are trying to accomplish, is that you wake up out of your deepest REM cycles.
STEP 2: Deep Relaxation
The next step after waking up, is to let yourself slip into a deep state of relaxation. Make sure your body is loose and relaxed and then lie in a comfortable position. Breathe slowly and steadily. The key here, (now this might sound odd) is to let your body fall asleep before your mind does. When you fall asleep every night, your mind will naturally fall asleep before your body, but we want this process to be reversed.
So to do this you want to again, be comfortable, then you want to lie completely still if possible. Next you want to try to empty your mind. Just focus on the blackness under your eyelids. (For me personally, this is where Binaural Beats would come into handy, just a little tip.) If any thoughts find a way to enter your mind, just try to empty them as quick as you can. Just let them slide through your mind if you will, don't focus on them.

STEP 3: The Hypnagogic State
After you are deeply relaxed, the next step is to enter a state of Hypnagogia. In this state you may start to get freaked out, but its very imperative that you stay calm and maintain a state of deep relaxation.
At this stage, you may start to colors and/or patterns that take over the darkness. You may also hear various sounds or singing voices along with bodily sensations of floating, falling, etc. You'll know when you are in the Hypnagogic state when you experience it. You will feel as if you are in a state of Euphoria, and everything will feel very dream like.
When you feel yourself starting to leave, this is when you can start with some affirmations. Tell yourself and confirm in your mind that you are dreaming. Its important that you still remain still and do not move. If you have to move or itch, them quickly do it and then go back a retain your state of deep relaxation.
Also another question that is frequently asked is,"Can I swallow while in this state, or will it mess up the process?" The answer is yes and no. You can swallow if its bothering you, but keep it natural. Don't force it or make a note in your head, just do it and don't think twice about it.

STEP 4: Create your Dream World
In this step you will approach a pitchfork in the road. You will be forced to make a decision. You have to chose to either drop off and attempt to enter your dream, or if you don't feel as of you are sufficiently relaxed enough, then you need to stay in a state of Hypnagogia. However if you feel detached enough, and are ready to enter your dream world, then its time to initiate it.
We are going to exit the state of Hypnagogia and enter the dream world, with a technique called Visualization. This part is as simple as using your 5 senses to create an imaginary world. I would start with your strongest sense first then slowly add more sense into your visualization. The key here is to not try to hard to force a dream world to appear, it should come naturally.
If you are having a hard time, just try to imagine a recent dream that was very vivid to you. Imagine that you are back in that dream. Try to recreate the sounds and the scenery all over again. Along with the visualization, use affirmations to aid you. Tell your self, "I am in a Lucid Dream."
You should feel your body start to fade away until you are suddenly in your dream. Once you are in your dream, Preform your reality check of choice, just to make sure. Just try not to excite your self too much when you pass the reality check, otherwise you might accidentally wake yourself up!

STEP 5: Stabilize the Dream
The last (and most important step!) is to stabilize your dream. After you have performed your Reality Check then you need to further use your sense and stabilize the dream before you go exploring. Use your five senses and make sure to fully complete the scenery. Once you have fully stabilized the dream, you can now go crazy! Go explore, fly, do whatever you want!
